Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Serum Vs L'occitane Divine Youth Oil Vs Blue Nectar Ayurveda Kumkumadi Radiance Night Glow Serum

I recently got to try facial serums/oils from 2 brands - One French and one India brand. I have done a comparison of these oils with another midnight recovery serum from Kiehl's as well. You can learn about these oils/serums from the table below.

Loccitane Divine Youth Oil

Blue Nectar Kumkumadi Oil

Packaging

Very classy and sturdy packaging although it’s a glass container. Royal blue color container with a sturdy pump dispenser.

Most attractive packaging ever and you would definitely get tempted to buy this. Yellow color glass container with a very sturdy pump dispenser.  Not very travel friendly.

Lightweight container packaging which is not the sturdiest. The pump dispenser is given separately and does not completely fit into the container. Hence, the lid needs to be fixed every time after using and the pump is to be kept separately. Not very travel friendly either.

Fragrance

Pleasant smell but strong smell of various oils.

Made from various flowers and hence the smell is quite pleasant and lingers for a long time.

Smells strongly of traditional oils and doesn’t have any other fragrance. Not the best smelling according to me. In a way, you can be assured that it has no added artificial fragrances.

Effectiveness

We need about 3 drops for the entire face and it take about 10 minutes to sink in completely. Initially, I had a FEW BREAKOUTS due to the high concentration of various oils but later my skin got used to it. The oil is best suitable for night time use as per the name. It can be a bit sticky and greasy for daytime. So stick to the instructions. As for the effectiveness, I am not too sure if I would recommend this.

We need about 3 drops of this oil to cover the entire face and it gets absorbed in a jiffy, YES you heard me right. The oil feels so light on the skin and doesn’t make your face greasy. It is so lightweight that you can also use it before applying makeup. I feel that it helps preps my face for makeup better than a moisturizer. The oil definitely helped lighten my dark spots.

We need just about 2 drops of this oil for the face. The oil is quite heavy and greasy on the skin and it takes a long time to get absorbed into the skin. This has to be used only at night on a moist skin for better absorption into the skin. The oil can make your skin a bit dark when applied but once you wash it off after 60 minutes , it does leave it very soft, supple and bright.

Price

SGD 80 for 30 ml

SGD 178 for 30 ml

SGD 35 for 10 ml

Overall Rating

Most affordable for the price considering the various oil blends. Works at a slow pace.

Most expensive of all the 3 but most effective too

Moderately priced and can try the 10 ml first. Meant only for night time skincare

Blue Nectar Luxurious Ayurveda Anti Ageing Saffron Sandalwood Brightening Cream Review

I visited India in January 2020 and I really miss the fun times I had with our families and time spent in shopping malls in Chennai. Express Avenue is by far our favorite because it is so close to our house in Royapettah and we literally used to walk to the mall and also watch night show movies on a Friday night.

I have vivid memories of Pani puris from Gangothri, perfumes from Lifestyle Stores , aromatic coffee from Starbucks and sweet scents from The Forest Essentials store.
