Fusion Dressing for a Fusion Wedding

The interesting fact about a fusion wedding is how the couple juggle between customs & costumes(like the u & o in these words) within minutes !!! I attended one such wedding recently where the Bride was a Bengali and the Bridegroom a Malayali !! Interesting combo right...

The events that we attended were the Haldi ceremony , Wedding and the Reception. Dresscode was set and it was freestyle for both Haldi & the Reception, but it was either a Kerala Saree or a Bengali Saree for the wedding.
I opted for a fusion look for the wedding with a Kerala Saree & Bengali type makeup.

Brides of the World Inspired Eye makeup Series , Part 3 - Indian bengali Bride Eyemakeup

Bridal makeup is something that interests me a lot and is something that is close to my heart. One day while I was browsing for tips on bridal makeup & things to buy , I stumbled upon beauty blogs and then it was running in my mind that I should start this some day.
So I thought my blog should be able to give some value addition to my readers and introduced Brides of the World Eyemakeup series.

Till now, I have posted Arabic Inspired Bridal makeup & Pakistani inspired Bridal makeup.

I have to admit that I created these looks based on some observations from images in Google and not for type casting any color/look with any nation/state etc. I do not wish to offend anyone in these posts. The posts are inspired from pictures that I observed in google.

Brides of the World inspired Eyemakeup Series - Part 2- Pakistani Bridal Look

In continuance with the Brides of the World Series, the next one is Pakistani Bride.

I always envy their dramatic makeup & pastel colored lehengas. Though I love the color green, I have never tried it on my eyes since I know I will not be able to carry it around comfortably. But somehow I felt they often sport such bright jewel toned shades like green & blue.

Steps to create an intense and dramatic Pakistani Bridal look : I used various shades of green to achieve this look.

1 : Prime your eyes using an eye primer.I used Ponds BB cream as a primer which keeps the eye shadow intact for about 5 to 6 hours.

Eyeshadow Application using only eyeliner pencils

It has been a while since I posted some tutorial.. While I was contemplating on what tutorial I can post, I remembered my bridal MUA Kavitha who did a fabulous job with simple eyeshadows and brushes..So it is in the hands of the MUA and not the products what they use. When I spoke to her regarding my blog & my ideas, she suggested a simple, yet glam eye makeup tutorial using only colored eyeliner pencils, some Q tips, a pair of false lashes and offered to do the tutorial for me.

So here are the steps and pics for you :)

Brides of the World inspired Eyemakeup Series - Part 1- Arabic Bridal Eye makeup look

The title looks so complicated, but the concept isn't.. Its very simple.. Yes.. it was a lazy Sunday afternoon when this idea suddenly struck me. I actually wanted to do only Brides of India like Malabar Gold & Diamonds ad & started with a Tamil bride look at first. I don't know what really went wrong in the middle, it turned out to be an Arabic kinda look, then I decided to change the concept as Brides of the World and do some modifications to the look to make it an Arabic Eye makeup.

Let us look at this inspiration picture & see how to create this :

Pink and Purple Party Eyemakeup Tutorial

Hi Everyone,

Hope the New Year was good for everyone, it was extra special for me.. I will be revealing it soon.... No.. Stop Stop.. I know where your imaginations are heading to..

Jan 3, 9 pm IST, My Residence....

The door bell rang & I was wondering who is this ringing the bell at 9 pm... I went & opened the door, and there was this guy standing with a huge parcel in his hand..No.. I did not do any online shopping.. My husband too gave a perplexed look at me.. He asked Ma'm are you Mrs.Harine..? I said yes.. (wondering what the hell the parcel was) ???

He asked me to sign on a paper & handed over the parcel to me. I ran into the room & opened it & found several eyeshadow palettes, brushes & it was sent by my brother who is in UK... Oh my God.. I couldn't believe it and I was shell shocked.. Was I holding a Sleek Palette, MUA palette, ELF brushes... ??? He knew about my blog & had sent all this me.. How sweet of him...

Pics & review coming up soon......What more do we need for a New Year??

I had done a pink-purple eyemakeup for my cousin's engagement recently & wanted to do a tutorial for this look.Find the steps below:

Pink & Purple Party Eye makeup Tutorial

Pink eyeshadow is so versatile that it will compliment any skintone & any other eyeshadow color. Recently for two parties I tried this pink & purple combination eye makeup that worked really well & was appreciated by everyone.

General Tips for eyemakeup:

  • The eyemakeup should always be complimenting the dress we wear, in the sense the colors should not always be the same colors found on the dress but based on the color wheel.

  • The colors on the opposite side of the wheel compliment each other, for instance if you are wearing a yellow color dress, a warm purple (purple with yellow undertones) will look good on you.

  • Always use an eye primer beneath your shadow for better color payoff & longevity. There is no need for an expensive ones, even a simple BB cream is fine.

  • Invest in basic eyemakeup brushes; they will really help you do your own eyemakeup.

  • For applying the base color, use flat shader brush in patting motion for maximum pigmentation. Layer the colors for a better color payoff.

Steps to create the look:

1: Apply an eye primer around the eye area. I used Ponds BB cream to even out the skin around the eye area.

2:  Apply a cream eyeshadow preferably a pink shade for better color payoff of the powder eyeshadows.I used my fingers to apply the cream shadow.

3: Using a flat shader brush pick up a shimmering pink color & layer it on top of the matte shade. Since it a party look, you can go for shimmering shades.

4: Use a crease brush to take a purple eyeshadow & apply in the outer 1/3 rd of the lid in the form of a V & extend it outwards to create an illusion of a bigger eyes.Using a flat shader brush apply some purple eyeshadow to the lower lashline leaving the inner tear duct region.

6: To intensify the outer edge, take some black eyeshadow in the crease brush & apply in the outer V and blend evenly.

10: Apply black eyeliner to the upper lash line & line the lower line with Khol.

11: Use pale gold eyeshadow beneath the brow bone to highlight those areas to capture light & make your eyes look bigger & attractive using a clean brush to apply to the brow bone.

Tip : ) Apply compact powder with a clean brush on top of the eyeshadow as a final step so that it doesn’t crease & remains intact for hours :)

My outfit and makeup for my cousin's engagement

Its been a hectic weekend with less sleep & more travel.. Had my cousin's engagement in Bangalore & had to go for another party in Nellore. And finally office today :( Thought I ll come up with a simple post today with not much of writing & more of pics...

There was a ring exchange ceremony followed by partying & dancing.. I thought I ll wear my Sangeet Lehenga since I did not get any occasion after that to wear it again... I wore a kundan set, did my own makeup & went to a salon called Fushions in Kammanahalli, Bangalore.
