Purchasing products from Blog Sale - Tips and my first Blog Sale Purchase

Most of them in the blogging world would be knowing what a Blog Sale is.
But for my readers who do not know what it is : A Blog Sale is the sale of cosmetics by bloggers which were used by them very few times and been given out at almost 50 to 60 % off on the MRP.

With increasing prices of cosmetics, not everybody can afford to buy high end brands and a Blog sale is a blessing in disguise for some of them. When you have something on your wishlist and your budget is the only thing that has been stopping you from buying it, then be sure to grab it during such blog sales.

I was someone who was very apprehensive about buying from Blog Sales and I have my own tips jotted down for you to choose the right products during blog Sale :

Tips on maintaining your Silk Sarees

I know how happy a girl can be when she buys a saree, but it does not end there. There goes a lot into maintaining it well, in order to use it for many years. When it comes to silk sarees, it is completely a different ball game.

You might have read about my Silk Saree Collection, for those who haven't check this link.

I really cherish them and see to it they are maintained well. Now lets head on to the tips :

1 : Remove the Silk Saree from the cardboard box and store them in a cloth bag(or muslin cloth or dhoti cloth) that lets the saree breathe.

2 : Use some Closet Storage Fresheners with natural ingredients such as sandalwood.

Eyeshadow Application using only eyeliner pencils

It has been a while since I posted some tutorial.. While I was contemplating on what tutorial I can post, I remembered my bridal MUA Kavitha who did a fabulous job with simple eyeshadows and brushes..So it is in the hands of the MUA and not the products what they use. When I spoke to her regarding my blog & my ideas, she suggested a simple, yet glam eye makeup tutorial using only colored eyeliner pencils, some Q tips, a pair of false lashes and offered to do the tutorial for me.

So here are the steps and pics for you :)

Hi Everyone,

Hope the New Year was good for everyone, it was extra special for me.. I will be revealing it soon.... No.. Stop Stop.. I know where your imaginations are heading to..

Jan 3, 9 pm IST, My Residence....

The door bell rang & I was wondering who is this ringing the bell at 9 pm... I went & opened the door, and there was this guy standing with a huge parcel in his hand..No.. I did not do any online shopping.. My husband too gave a perplexed look at me.. He asked Ma'm are you Mrs.Harine..? I said yes.. (wondering what the hell the parcel was) ???

He asked me to sign on a paper & handed over the parcel to me. I ran into the room & opened it & found several eyeshadow palettes, brushes & it was sent by my brother who is in UK... Oh my God.. I couldn't believe it and I was shell shocked.. Was I holding a Sleek Palette, MUA palette, ELF brushes... ??? He knew about my blog & had sent all this me.. How sweet of him...

Pics & review coming up soon......What more do we need for a New Year??

I had done a pink-purple eyemakeup for my cousin's engagement recently & wanted to do a tutorial for this look.Find the steps below:

Pink & Purple Party Eye makeup Tutorial

Pink eyeshadow is so versatile that it will compliment any skintone & any other eyeshadow color. Recently for two parties I tried this pink & purple combination eye makeup that worked really well & was appreciated by everyone.

General Tips for eyemakeup:

  • The eyemakeup should always be complimenting the dress we wear, in the sense the colors should not always be the same colors found on the dress but based on the color wheel.

  • The colors on the opposite side of the wheel compliment each other, for instance if you are wearing a yellow color dress, a warm purple (purple with yellow undertones) will look good on you.

  • Always use an eye primer beneath your shadow for better color payoff & longevity. There is no need for an expensive ones, even a simple BB cream is fine.

  • Invest in basic eyemakeup brushes; they will really help you do your own eyemakeup.

  • For applying the base color, use flat shader brush in patting motion for maximum pigmentation. Layer the colors for a better color payoff.

Steps to create the look:

1: Apply an eye primer around the eye area. I used Ponds BB cream to even out the skin around the eye area.

2:  Apply a cream eyeshadow preferably a pink shade for better color payoff of the powder eyeshadows.I used my fingers to apply the cream shadow.

3: Using a flat shader brush pick up a shimmering pink color & layer it on top of the matte shade. Since it a party look, you can go for shimmering shades.

Dried Gel Liner ???? Do not worry

Hi All,

Here is a small tip for making your dried Gel Liner easy to use again...

Keep the gel liner jar next to a light source for about half an hour prior to applying makeup.... It will slightly melt in the heat and will have the perfect texture to use it on the eyes.. I saw this tip in some video... I really forgot when & where but thought I should share it with you people....

I have Maybelline Studio Gel Eyeliner in Black.. It is a heavenly product for the price we pay... But my only concern was it's drying nature,, now am not worried anymore :)

Aishwarya Rai inspired soft pink eye makeup tutorial

Aishwarya Rai inspired soft pink eye makeup

Hi All,

I wanted to create a Aishwarya Rai inspired soft pink eye makeup that would go well with Ethnic wear as well as Western wear.

Here is the picture of Aishwarya Rai that inspired me to create this mild eye makeup.

Step 1: Apply a primer or a concealer to your eye area to act as a base as well as to cover up dark circles or any wrinkles.

Step 2: Apply a peach/golden pink color eye shadow all over the lid.I used MAC Expensive Pink.

Step 3: Apply a dark pink eye shadow in the outer 1/3 in a V shape.Pink shade from MUA Poptastic Palette. Read review here.

Step 5: Take some light brown shade in a blending brush and blend the outer corner & crease area well so that the dark pink shade is evenly distributed and there should be no harsh edges.

Step 6: Brush your eyebrows, fill gaps using a brown eyebrow pencil.

Step 7: Take a matte champagne shade or any light color & apply it below the eyebrows to highlight the eyes & also to the inner tear duct area.

Tips : Use a black khol pencil to draw a thin line close to your upper lashline so that it would give a dark look to your lashes. Then use a liquid liner on top of it.

Step 8: Apply black kohl/eyeliner and extend it slightly to create a winged eyeliner look. Line the lower waterline with black kohl/kajal and join it to the winged eyeliner.

Step 9: Smudge the kohl on the outer 2 / 3 of the lower waterline with some dark pink eyeshadow or a brown eye shadow.

Step 10: Curl your lashes using an eyelash curler & apply loads of mascara to both upper & lower lashes or use artificial lashes.....

Use a nude lip color along with this look.
